Burke’s Bookkeeping works with small business owners across Hagerstown and the
surrounding tri-state area, handling the financial side so they don’t have to. Scott Burke brings more than two decades of tax preparation and bookkeeping experience to every client, from monthly reconciliations and clean financial statements to year-round tax planning and CFO-level guidance. The goal is simple: give owners back their time and give them numbers they can actually use to make decisions.
Two decades of running Maryland businesses
Scott Burke started in accounting at Spokane Falls Community College and has
spent the years since on both sides of the ledger. He’s owned an auto sales lot, a bookstore, and a logistics company, and he’s spent more than twenty years preparing personal and business tax returns in Hagerstown, along the way
teaching tax courses to other preparers.
Education
Scott earned his Associate of Arts in Accounting at Spokane Falls Community College, laying the groundwork for everything that came after.
First Business
Scott bought and ran an auto sales lot in Fayetteville, Pennsylvania, handling four employees, payroll, taxes, and the books himself. His first real lesson in what owners actually deal with.
Two Decades in Tax
Scott opened a tax practice in Hagerstown, growing it to six employees and preparing personal and business returns year after year. He also taught basic and complex tax courses to other preparers.
Burke's Bookkeeping
Scott launched Burke's Bookkeeping to give small business owners the full picture: clean monthly books, year-round tax planning, and CFO-level guidance without the full-time cost.
Books that work as hard as you do
Most bookkeepers hand you a report and disappear. Scott has run businesses of his own, so he knows the numbers only matter if they help you decide what to
do next. You get clean books, straight answers, and someone who picks up the
phone.
